Michele De Lucchi works in Milan and lives at Angera on the lake Maggiore with his wife and four children. His studio of architecture and design covers a wide field of activities, typical for the Italian global approach to design.
He was a driving force with his group “Cavart” in the years of Radical Design and he was partner founder of “Memphis”, which was to become one of the most important contributors of new orientation in the eighties.
In 1990 he founded “Produzione Privata” a little firm for the realization of experimental objects, far from the logic of the great distribution.
Today, the activities of his studio in Milan range from industrial design, furniture and interior design, to architecture for private and commercial use.
Among the clients are Artemide, Kartell, Mandarina Duck, Pelikan, Deutsche Bank, Conrad, Deutsche Bahn, Matsushita.
His most important architectural projects were built in Japan, Germany and Italy.
As a permanent consultant for Olivetti, De Lucchi is responsible of the design of all the products, banking machines and office furniture systems that Olivetti produces.
De Lucchi was asked to teach as professor of Design at Domus Academy, Milan, Cranbrook University, Detroit, University of Architecture in Milan and Palermo and Kunstakademie, Stuttgart.
Among the international awards for his work are Good Design (Japan), Premio Smau (Italy), Compasso d'Oro (Italy), Deutsche Auswahl, Design Innovationen, Design Plus, Office Design Eimu, Roter Punkt für Hohe und Höchste Designqualität, Design Team of the year 1997, (Germany).
